Sports Racer Network > Excelsior Talisman Triple (492cc) in a Berkeley

"This triple was installed in a Berkeley SE328 in the 60's -- replacing the original twin 328cc Excelsior. Other modifications included the relocation of the battery (from the left front of the engine bay to its current location) and the fuel tank (from behind the engine to the rear of the car). Additionally, a small fuel reservoir was installed above the three Amal carbs -- fed by the fuel pump, and gravity-feeding the carbs. Additionally, the expansion chamber was replaced with a longer exhaust that exits just ahead of the left rear tire, and electronic ignition. "

Sports Racer Network > "This shot was taken at Lime Rock, Connecticut at the VSCCA Spring Sprints in 2005. It was the first outing for the car -- and we had some distributor problems. Over the course of the day we managed to break two heels (one of them broke on the track, leaving me stranded in the esses) -- but the guys at GMT Motorsports out of Danbury were able to scrounge replacements from other cars in the paddock.

The car has since been outfitted with electronic ignition. "
