You would have to fabricate/machine new uprights. You may also need to run different wheel centers, as most wheels have a flat face for the wheel nut, and our design uses a 90 deg taper. The half shafts would most likely change too.
We have both a new wheel center design to match the drive pin and wheel nut requirements, as well as a steel bearing housing that can be welded into a fabricated steel upright. The uprights on our new F1000 are going to be sheet metal fabricated units, as they will be both lighter and stiffer than billet aluminum ones. Since I am the welder, they will cost far less too. We have not yet determined the pricing on the upright or wheel center. The prices of the other components are listed below; please note the pricing is subject to change.
Wheel nut: Right or Left hand thread, hard anodized red or green ……….$93.00
Wheel hub: Right or Left hand thread……………………………………………………$573.75
Inner Retaining Ring: Hard anodized……………………………………………………….$68.25
Bearing Pre Load Spacer…………………………………………………………………………..$19.75
FSAE only Wheel bearing (2 needed per hub)………………………………………..$48.75
Wheel bearing (2 needed per hub)……………………………………………………....$112.50
We have calculated the weight savings to be over 20 pounds by moving from the old 2 piece wheel hubs, CV's, half shafts, wheel bearings, and uprights, to the new spec stuff. The hubs fit the Taylor Race Engineering tripods, so you can get half shafts in almost any length you need for an awesome price.
To get the most out of the light weight parts we can design custom uprights in either steel fabrication or billet aluminum specifically to your needs.
Imagine shedding 20 pounds of un-sprung rotating weight.
